We leave the house everyday to go to work, to the store, to the gym, or just to meet friends. There’s never a thought something will happen to us. What we want to believe is that we are forever safe. Take the case of an intoxicated lady that decided to call an Uber X for a ride. Instead of driving the victim home the driver Maxime Fohounhedo decided to drive the lady to an alley and assault her then proceeded to rape her at his apartment.
This lady did nothing wrong, but yet she became an innocent victim of a disgusting man that preyed on women.
“Fohounhedo has no criminal background. An Uber spokesperson said they’ve cooperated with police. She wouldn’t say if license sharing is allowed.
Attorney Grant Dixon said that raises red flags.
“I think it points out one of the flaws in the system, for any ride sharing service that relies on technology, they don’t have boots on the ground to check these people,” Dixon said.
Uber released a statement saying in part, “Account sharing is expressly prohibited oh the Uber Platform. Mr. and Mrs. Fohounhedo committed fraud in this deplorable act and we are exploring all legal options.”
The statement also said Uber had shared all details with Chicago police and is cooperating with authorities.
